Intro Founding Families Neighborhood Years Gone By Visitor's Center (guestbook) |
|
I've taken, what I think is, a different approach to the prosperity challenge. Due to a large neighborhood and the memory of a dead pet rock, my sims live one day at a time. I found it annoying that by the time I got back to the beginning of the rotation, I had no clue what was going on in my household. Plus, it seemed unrealistic that my sims' memories would include an older sibling whizzing through college, then another sibling getting married, having a baby, and their little cousin growing up before their own life seemed to progress again. It also seemed a bit odd that everyone graduated in the same year, married on the same schedule, etc etc. So my sims live for the day - or actually - a year to them. Granted, something exciting doesn't happen every day, so each year's update will only include the highlights (specially since I'm really not very good about the whole blogging thing). Also, I decided that if I was relying on the roll of the dice to determine important factors of my sim's lives, I would also leave their clothing and hairstyles to chance. Some of the toddlers clothing were changed (I hate it when a boy is put into pink!), and the NPCs acourse (except a professor, I can handle that outfit) but otherwise, I learned to live with whatever they were given when they grew up. Sometimes makes me wanna scream 'You're MaxisTM dresses you funny!' But .... they are who they are, and I love them anyways. My very first second generation teen just started Uni. I have 19 houses in my neighborhood, and 67 sims ... I think. Pretty sure there are a couple of newborns not included in that number. So needless to say (and yet I'll say it anyways) this will be a HUGE undertaking, but I will try to make it as straightforward (and as easy to navigate) as possible. I've color coded the families, to make it easy to tell from which family each sim is descended. Also, fair warning ... the family blogs start from the bottom and work their way up. The assumption being that if anyone comes back for more, the update will be at the top of the page and avoids having to scroll to the bottom each visit. My challenge begins in the year 1654. I didn't keep with the time period, I'm not that creative. I use a family tree type program to track my sims. Since it wouldn't allow births after our current year, my CAS elders were born in 1600. Unfortunately, I am beginning this in the year 1684. I will stretch my brain to give some background, but details may be sketchy at best, and there are no pics. |
The Neighborhood![]() ProspervilleI forget which empty neighborhood template I chose for my neighborhood. Think it was Veronaville, and is where I got the -ville for my neighborhood name. I am not at all creative with names. The layout is amazingly similar to the neighborhood that I grew up in, so I borrowed those street names. The addresses are simply the rotation order. The numbers are kind of willy nilly through the neighborhood as I figured if it was a brand new subdivision cropping up, the founding families wouldn't start out right on top of each other.
